At the early stage of the company, One Concern was driven by a clear mission: to save lives. This mission was inspired by a survival story from one of the founders, who experienced a devastating flood in Kashmir.
Building on this inspiration, One Concern developed a product tailored to the needs of first responders. The goal was to provide them with timely and actionable information during live disaster events. The product aimed to offer early warnings and predictive insights into seismic damage and flood inundation.
When I joined the team, I had the valuable opportunity to work with them in a home office. As the startup grew, the design challenges became immense. With no clear requirements, I often had to design from scratch with minimal direction.
Despite these obstacles, which made it difficult to establish a clear path and led to frequent pivots, I took the initiative to leverage creativity and problem-solving approaches to create a clear structure for the product.
Design lead
As the founding designer, I built the team from 1 to 4 members, designed One Concern's platform from scratch, and established the design system.
System builder
Partnering with the data science and product teams, I created the system for One Concern's platform to measure hazard impacts.
Thought leader
I spearheaded ideation, exploration, concept validation, storytelling, and socialization across the company, including executive leadership and CEO.
